Help Linux Mint 17 RC and Nvidia drivers

Hi all 

 

I am new to Linux world and I've installed Linux Mint 17 RC 32-bit Cinnamon prove that this was going to leave the Win Xp. 

I have a Pentium IV 1.7 1gb ram and Nvidia Geforce FX5200 graphics card is a little old but well pulled WinXp. 

 

The problem is that once installed Linux Mint and the problems begin with Nvidia. I have it installed on a hdd in which there is only the Linux Mint 17. Already have seen that with the Nvidia takes fatal. 

It says something like: Falled to ide channel, Xorg 1331, Xorg 2100 0XCCCC0000 

Nouveau cinnamon failed error codes and several more with reference to cinnamon. 

Some research failures appear to be the Nvidia drivers. 

When is Plug Linux MInt can do nothing hangs as maximum access to key area code manually. 

 

I need you to tell me exactly how to fix the problem and I've had some eg. sudo apt-get install nvidia-current etc ... i no way. 

If you know any version Linux Mint you can get me better and I know what agradecira that desk. If you need to install nvidia drivers tell me exactly how. 

I'm starting to feel like home, with Xp also was a Show. How much patience you have to have ... 

 

I hope you can help me enjoy all the benefits of Linux, because I really wanted to try them.

Nvidia drivers for mint mate

I used a work around in installing mint 17.  I hit enter at countdown, and chose compatibility mode. Installed mint. Rebooted and his shift. Had to do it a couple times before I was able to choose compatibility mode again. After mint loaded, I opened device driver and chose the recommended driver for my Nvidia card. After reboot, everything ran as expected. No problems.

I also had problems with the distro of cinnamon and I have a Nvidia graphics, I installed the Mate version MInt 15 64 bit, I'm doing pretty well and hopefully even a little more to install version 17, will also be of MATE.

Consider installing the Linux Mint Mate. He gets along well with NVidia

I wonder what is the best version of Linux Mint and what your best Nvidia desktop ...? 

 

I have seen the newest LTS version is currently 13 and is about to leave the 17. I see you go ends 14-16 bracket this year. The LTS version 13 supports up to 2017. I would like to know which is more stable and can get better with nvidia. 

Desks, no cinnamon probe that already with version 17 and nvidia will fatal 

KDE, idk if nvidia supports 

MATE, which you say it goes well with nvidia 

XFCE donot how it goes with nvidia 

Nose which could be the best combination of desktop version of Linux Mint and compatibility with Nvidia.
