hello good mornings! I have a question to do; I have documented quite in the subject and I must confess, I burned the books and san google has failed miserably in the attempt ...

I'm trying (and well said! trying!) installing linux on an ACER ASPIRE 5336-2471 and has been literally IMPOSSIBLE. you try to put any distro, collides with the fault plane of the black screen that speak ALL the forums.

I tried with debian, fedora, open suse and it's been the same story, with ALL the damn screen goes black and there is no way to boot your system ...

it is clear that I have tried EVERYTHING that explain post, NOTHING AMENDING CASE. I INSTALLED SYSTEMS UNDER SAFE MODE but the rebound and start LAPTOP, damn black screen standing ... no longer to do!

if SOMEONE HAS THIS FORUM mode give me a hand about it, I'll thank you very much ... or lost, tell me who to contact to resolve the issue ....

I think if all linux I've tried do exactly the same, the problem is in the original kernel Torvalds our friend ... well expect an answer and guidance .... thank you very much in advance!

From what I read on the Internet, the case may be due to conflicts generated about graphics cards. In Google I have seen some solutions about it, but not if it will help or not your specific case.

I have been trying for a week or so to solve the Black Screen in Linux Mint.  Reportedly, a Nvidia driver problem.  I've tried about a dozen fixes, nothing works.  If I could put Mint in Safe Mode I think I could fix it but I can find no Safe Mode option.  I've been running Mint for about a year, this just started in the last week.

Hi there:
I tried the option you mention, I have even gone further, I have tried the following:

1. Started Ubuntu. Just when the Ubuntu logo first appears Grub press ESC to display. We give you several options, we select the first one with the keyboard and press the "e" key to edit the commands. Where it says "quiet splash" add "nomodeset" (without quotes) and press Ctrl + X to start

Two. Already in our session Ubuntu edit the default options will take Grub. From terminal:

sudo gedit / etc / default / grub

(I USE HERE NANO, OF COURSE, START SAFEMODE GRUB FROM TERMINAL AND EDIT)

Of all the text look see paragraph that looks like this:

GRUB_DEFAULT = 0
# GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT = 0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET = true
GRUB_TIMEOUT = 10
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR = `lsb_release-i-s 2> / dev / null | | Debian miss`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX = ""

And we modify it as follows:

GRUB_DEFAULT = 0
# GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT = 0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET = true
GRUB_TIMEOUT = 10
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR = `lsb_release-i-s 2> / dev / null | | Debian miss`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash nomodeset acpi_osi =" Linux ""
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX = ""

Three. Save and close. Now update our Grub typing: sudo update-grub

THIS HAS NOT WORKED WITH LINUX MINT 17 Qiana; RUNS BLACK SCREEN, TRYING TO CHARGE AND resets 3 O 4 TIMES AND BLUE SCREEN APPEARS, DA ERROR THAT CAN NOT LOAD MANAGER SCREEN AND WILL ATTEMPT IN 2 MINUTES TO MINT ... SO, SO LEAST I'M TRYING .... DISMISSED WITH Xubuntu .... IN A WHILE I mention ...

HERE, THE ORIGINAL DRIVERS VGA:

IF SOMEONE GET THE DRIVERS FOR LINUX PRIVATIVE A WAY TO INSTALLATION AND CONSOLE MODE COULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM ....

Very good.

It has been the same with Mint 17 Cinnamon on a acer aspire 5736z from a friend. The problem has a solution and if it is easy to fix (once you know how to)

It is a kernel error with intel graphics happens to a few laptops (acer, lenovo, hp, etc).
It also happens in ubuntu 14.04, but there if that is solved with subsequent updates to the facility, but not in Mint (or hope clem team solve mint as I have done in ubuntu).

They spoil me again in ubuntu after upgrading the kernel console and no way to fix it. I researched various forums and saw that I had mint solution, so I decided to delete ubuntu (you have hobby to unity and even install cinnamon on is not the same).

To install Mint you plugged an external monitor (before starting the laptop) and making mirror with function keys (Fn + F4 or F5) do not have it now in front.

I relied on the solution proposed in .... viewtopic.php? F = 68 & t = 141535 and some English forum, they were practically the same.

Install mint (with usb or dvd) and update it with the external monitor (always mirror dual monitor, not extended. This depends on the function key you use), then run the following in terminal

gksu gedit / etc / rc.local

Before the line:

exit 0

sets the following line:

setpci-s 00:02.0 F4.B = 30

Dale to save and close.

For the grub startup screen is fixed on the monitor of laptop do the following

sudo sed-i 's / GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX = "" / GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX = "Linux acpi_osi =" / g' / etc / default / grub

sudo update-grub

My works for me, keeps coming in black system load until it finishes booting, but only a moment.

If the computer goes to sleep or into hibernation, put back in the black screen, but is arranged by adjusting the control screen brightness (Fn + Left or Right direction keys).
There is solution for this in some forums, but how it works with the brightness setting compliqué not apply in my life.

I hope you serve, luck ...: D

I commented that this was my first choice; I placed an external monitor to install linux mint and .... OH SURPRISE! keys FN + F4 or F5 NOT WORK .... not the FN + arrow left feclas. der and arrow. NOOOOOOO so you can change the monitor brightness or place in "mirror" .... this model lap if I broke the head!

I rebooted the system once installed it and more surprises the FN keys did not work at all (good sound, and other yes, but the brightness and monitor in mirror, no!). so there, the idea died on the altar of good intentions ....

As soon as I handed the laptop to the client; I stay (very thankful) with all these explanations for when I go back with another model ...

We deeply appreciate the support and guidance they have given me ... just for me, Mint failed terribly with this model of laptop ... and do not have the guilt Mint, the kernel is the only problem .... xubuntu 14 did all that "just" did not have to lift a finger and that's what is expected of an OS you hang the poster to be "out of the box" ... the user should not struggle with these issues. ..

Once again, thank you and succeed!

I ran into similar issue when installing on "Acer Aspire V 15 Touch V3-572P-326T" that I purchased couple of days back and here is how I resolved it.
Whenever I hit F12 and selected install from the USB it would go blank. Then I read on some post that USB mint comes with UEFI option but somehow it was not appearing in the boot from menu. So this is what I did
1) Hit F2 to get the "Bios" setting and got to Security and provide Supervisor password. At this point you should be able to go to the "select UEFI as trusted" and hit return. From the resulting menu, scroll to the USB related one and then browse till you get to the grub efi file, choose this, it will prompt you to provide a name and then choose Yes.

2) Now when it is booting, at F12, it should give you an option to boot using the "grub uefi" file you added to the trust file.

3) Now after install and reboot, it will go to windows by default.

4) go back and choose the trusted file from the hard drive, you will see a directory called Ubuntu, select the one that has grub in the name, save and exit and not hit f12 upon reboot and you should see this an option.

5) Now go back to the boot menu in the bios and put this option ahead of Windows UEFI file and next time you should take you to grub menu and you do not have to hit f12 to get to it.
