Connect Printer to Router, to print over the wireless network.

Hi, I have a macbook with OS X Mavericks a canon MP230 Multifunction (no wifi) and Movistar ZTE router with usb input. I read that you can connect the printer to the router, so you can print via wifi, but not how. someone could help me? Thank you.

Hello, I have a multifunction HP ePrint wireless router connected by telephone .

 

In the router quick guide explains how to link the router with peripherals through what they call WPS ( guess that why they call it as router , but I do not know 100% , it may be generic).

Then , on the same printer settings you must have something setup for this purpose so that :

 

Check that your modem available that WPS option (mine is old, so it is very likely that you have also have)

 

If you do not have the printer manual , look it up on the manufacturer's website that you can download in secure PDF .

 

If you say you do not have wifi in the printer, for then imagine that you can not do the link between devices. For screenshots I've seen of the Multifunction , I see no icon associated with the wireless antenna . If they bring the top models that you have.

 

To print texts going great . I have not tried with images, may delay something , viz. Anyway, I hope you serve the response.

Thanks for quick response. Maybe I have not explained well. What I want is to connect the printer to the router via USB (since the router has this input) and thus connect from the computer to the router by wifi and east by usb to the printer and create the link.

It is likely that the printer has ethernet connection, and that if you can connect to the router, locate the iP he designates by default, or appoint an IP manually and printers menu you locate your Mac and install without problem

Thanks for the help, but the printer does not have ethernet. It can be by having the usb router by an article I read.
