This is a problem that the same pod2g mentioned. Apparently some devices they freeze displaying a message on the screen that says "kernel patching". The solution suggested by pod2g is that if this happens, they should press the Home + Off buttons simultaneously for a while until the apple logo comes up. This way of forcing a reboot on the device and allow the process to continue.
