Apple Care included broken screen on iPad?

I was this weekend at an Apple Store, and I commented that I did 20 € discount on Apple Care, and Aplle Care apart from battery, cables, support and device, including breaking screen, the truth is that I was surprised . 

It does include tear-screen, because the conditions of Apple care I have not seen anything like that. 

On the other hand, I'm between an iPad and an iPad mini Air retina, do not know which you decide.
