Microsoft is constantly improving the performance of Windows 11 and also making minor improvements in Windows 10. But few users think it's enough. So the company is currently working on a new app called PC Manager to help improve the performance of Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs .
The tool aims to quickly improve performance and disable programs affecting the health and use of your PC.
For the moment, the utility is available in beta (and only in English version). Eventually it aims to become an essential cleaning software such as CCleaner or Glary Utilities .
So, if you want to learn how to install and use Microsoft PC Manager, you've come to the right place.

In this guide, we'll tell you how to use PC Manager to clean up Windows and boost your PC's performance .

How to download and install PC Manager

  • Download Windows Cleanup Tool from this link:

MS PC Manager

  • Check I accept End user License and Privacy Agreements
  • Then click Install
  • Let the file copy take place
  • Once the installation is complete, click on Launch Now

How to Clean Windows with PC Manager for Booster

PC Performance Booster

Once PC Manager is installed, open it from the Start menu or use the desktop shortcut. The application is located in the system tray, in the lower right corner. You can access it at any time.

Now, to improve your PC performance, you just need to click on Boost button .
It will delete temporary files and free memory instantly .
In my tests, it reduced 65% of memory usage to 50% and unnecessary files were completely removed from the system. Basically, click “Boost” whenever you feel your Windows PC starting to slow down, and it should speed things up.

Check the health of your PC

Apart from improving performance, you also get a Health Check feature to detect potential issues in your Windows 11/10 PC.
It looks for all kinds of junk files (not just temporary files), including Windows cache, system logs, and recent file lists.
Also, it recommends you to set Microsoft Edge as your default internet browser in case you use a more resource-intensive browser like Chrome . It looks like another intrusive tactic from Microsoft to market its browser.
Finally, Microsoft PC Manager's Health Check tool also suggests programs that can be disabled on startup to improve startup time.

Free up disk space

Under Storage Management, you can perform a deep cleanup of your PC.
It's basically a Disk Cleanup on Windows 11/10, but it's been made easily accessible through this app.
This tool finds every disposable file and allows you to delete them all immediately.
From upgrade files from previous Windows installations to non-critical Microsoft Defender files , you can delete them and free up space on your Windows 11 or 10 computer.

Tools available:

For example below, Disk Cleanup.
The latter is very similar to the list in the disk cleanup tool (cleanmgr) .

Also, you may find the large files that are taking up space on your PC and make a decision to delete them.
Specify minimum file sizes and locations.
This will open File Explorer with the search for important files.

Manage running applications (Processes)

In the Process Management section , PC Manager displays applications that frequently consume RAM by running multiple processes in the background.
On average, about 150 processes run on Windows 11 without any application running.
If you have a large number of processes running on your PC, you should also use this feature and terminate processes that are hogging RAM unnecessarily. Just click End next to an app's name to stop the process immediately.

How to remove Windows startup programs

Disable startup programs

And under Startup apps , you can quickly enable or disable apps to run after every system startup. We all know that startup applications are one of the most common reasons for PC crash.
Whenever you log into your Windows 11/10 system, these apps launch automatically which makes everything slow. You must wait at least 2-3 minutes before you can start.
So the best thing to do is to disable unnecessary startup apps during startup.

Security

There is also a Security tab under Microsoft PC Manager.
It allows you to quickly scan your PC for threats and malware. It looks like MSRT (Microsoft Safety Scanner) has been integrated into PC Manager for easy access.

Under Windows Update , you can find the latest feature and quality updates as well as driver updates.
You can also select the update you want to install on your PC.

With Browser Protection , you can enable a new setting that will prevent malicious apps from changing the default browser on your Windows 11/10 PC. I think it's a good security feature, but it doesn't was limited only to Edge and Chrome in my tests. I couldn't set the Opera browser as my default browser, and it was annoying to see PC Manager changing my default browser every time I rebooted.

Finally, there's Pop-up Management , which blocks pop-ups in apps. It seems that this feature was designed to prevent adware from spreading to your PC.

Configure MS PC Manager

Last thing, at the top right, the cogwheel icon gives access to the settings.
From these, you can deactivate PC Manager from Windows startup (no point in having it permanently running).
Finally you can disable automatic updates or check if new versions are available.
