Since version 6.09 of Skype began to notice a problem to use the application on some computers with Windows XP: to put data and password, Skype freezes trying to open session but never manages to display the list of contacts and equipment offers ultra slow although we close the Skype application using Ctrl + Alt + Del.
This is in very, very specific cases, when three factors combine:
Windows XP is used.
The mother use a specific chip audio or video.
The browser Google Chrome as your default is used.
That's the deadly combination that makes Skype unbootable and shoot CPU usage to 100%. The error occurs even when we want to go with our Hotmail user data.
No matter if we reset the data folder Skype (% appdata% / Skype), or if we use the switch "/ secondary" to run, nor are recorded errors in the Windows Event Viewer. It seems that the error does not depend on these factors.
But there are two possible methods to solve it till Skype launches a correction.
Method 1:
Make Internet Explorer the default browser, Google Chrome and do not ask again whether to predetermine. The cons of this method is that if we are fans of Google Chrome will lose the magic and everything that is "web page" will open with Internet Explorer, so that for example if we click a link in an email from Outlook will open in Internet Explorer instead of Google Chrome (and this would be the most truly remarkable change). But if you have problems with this, follow these steps:

Open Internet Explorer.

Click Tools and then Internet Options.

Click the Programs tab and then click Default.

Click OK, and then close Internet Explorer.

Open Google Chrome, and when we show a socket on top asking if we want Default, put no and do not ask again.

And presto, we can test the Skype and see how well it works.
Method 2:
This is for those who do not want to sacrifice BOTH Google Chrome. Is less invasive because what changed is the association of HTM files to be opened with Internet Explorer instead of Google Chrome. This would not make links to other applications open with Internet Explorer, as we happen with the first method.
We need to have on hand a HTM file extension, which can generate keeping any web page as a file to our PC. And these are the steps:

If you do not have at hand an HTM file, tapping Ctrl + S in any of the two browsers can save any web page on the computer.

Then go to the folder where the file was saved HTM

We right click the HTM file, deploy the "Open with ..." menu and select the "Choose default program" option.

In the window that appears select Internet Explorer, and touch OK. The HTM file will open with Internet Explorer and can close that window.

And presto, we can test the Skype and see how well it works now.
