Hello everyone, yesterday update to android Oreo and there is a problem that brings me crazy, before when I received a notification of the application that is if I removed it from the taskbar, a number on the icon of the application warned me that I had an unread notification. Well, after the update when a notification comes to me if I delete it (sliding) from the taskbar, the icon number is automatically deleted, this being annoying because if for example I delete it from the bar by custom, then I do not remember where the notification came from, since the number is also deleted from the icons ... I can not find a way to deactivate this. Can you help me?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Yes, it is annoying. Although I doubt it is normal, maybe it is a bug that deserves to restore the computer.

The other thing would be that you opt for an alternative like Nova Launcher and see if it works for you. Apart from that it is much faster and with more functions.

I hope it is solved with a next update.
Although I think there should be an option that allows you to go back to the previous version ... which I also miss.

Now, but you have to remember that in the previous version, you slipped and removed it from the taskbar but the icon number did not disappear, so it reminded you that this application had some pending notification ...

Also update to Oreo and it happens to me just like you, now instead of the number that was in the icon it puts me a point of green color Aqua and that indicates that I have unread messages; apparently it is not a bug.
Greetings

If you delete the notification by sliding, then it is understood that you already read that notification or that you are not interested. In any case, swiping means to delete the notification, at least that's what happens to me.

Now, but you have to remember that in the previous version, you slipped and removed it from the taskbar but the icon number did not disappear, so I reminded you that this application had some pending notification ... I have a habit of lowering the bar and delete notifications, if for example, I'm busy and then I see them ... now I have to make memory because if I delete them from there ... nothing will remind me that I have a whatsapp message for example.
I do not like it, and it is a roll that does not let you configure that to the taste of each one.

Well what about the point if it can be modified, in settings / notifications you can choose between point or numbers in the icons, the problem is if you receive an email notification for example and you remove it from the taskbar the number that was previously permanent to remind you that you had something unread is no longer ... disappears.

Try to change the point to number and I do not get the option, just "allow icon badge" which is the point and if I remove the selection does not put the point. I think this has to do with the customization layer of each manufacturer.

Would it be so kind to explain how I can go back to the previous version of android? I know we can but I do not know very well what are the steps to follow ...
Thanks in advance

It is complicated and risky if you do not have the necessary knowledge, apart from the fact that I do not know the steps to follow; I am sorry.
Hopefully someone else will read us and give you the help you need.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, and it seems like a monumental error. I receive many emails at work, and it was very useful for me to have the icon with the unread messages. Now I receive the notifications but as soon as I enter it deletes the icon of the number of messages.
That said, for me clearly a step back and that there is no option to select if you want to use it one way or another. I hope there is a solution soon.
