How to create Windows 8.1 system image using PowerShell

If you are using Windows 8.1 released recently, you may have noticed that the "File Recovery" which was under the "File History" has been removed in Windows 8.1. Because of this, you can not create system image backup in Windows 8.1, as you could in Windows 7 or in Windows 8, but the good thing is that you can still extract images backup created with Windows 8 or Windows 7.

Why Microsoft Removed function system image in Windows 8.1? The reason behind the removal is that Microsoft felt that the tools backup of Windows 7 were obsolete. That's why Windows 8.1, these tools are no longer present. Another reason could be that Microsoft wants users to fully trust the "History File", a simple solution, Backup included in Windows 8.1, on the other hand, in the Advanced Boot Options menu, the option "System Image Recovery "has also been removed.

Create a system image with PowerShell 
 
1 Open the Windows PowerShell as an administrator. To create the system image, run the command Wbadmin.

2 Copy and paste the PowerShell window the following command, and press [Enter]: 
 
                 wbadmin start backup-backup target: E: -include: C: -quiet- allCritical

Here en- "E: \" - is the destination drive where you'll store the system image, and - "C: \" - is the root of the system drive where Windows is currently installed. Change these variables according to their conditions. 
 
3 To remove the system image created, starting again from the installation media of Windows 8 USB, select Run, and copy, or open advanced boot: 
 
C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Shutdown.exe / r / o 
 
This way, you can avoid third-party tools in creating system image by using this method instead.
