How to configure a Cisco 1841 router

1 -Place the chassis (main unit) Cisco 1841 router on the desktop since it will control (check the Resources section for information on how to mount it on a wall). 
 
2 -Connect an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the back of your router. Connect another Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the back. Both are marked on the device. 
 
 
3 -Connect the other end of the WAN cable to the WAN port on the desktop computer and the other end of the LAN cable to the back of your external modem. If you have an internal modem on your desktop, connect both cables into the appropriate ports on your computer. 
 
4 -Connect your Cisco 1841 router and turn the power switch to turn it on. Wait till you start. 
 
5 -Place the software CD that came with your router into the disk drive. When the CD is detected run the installation program. Follow the instructions to install the software. Once completed double click on the software icon and follow the remaining instructions to activate your router 1841.
