Indirectly, Apple is forcing all users to upgrade operating systems. The company wants to increase the adoption of iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks among its users and therefore FaceTime stopped working on devices that have iOS 6 or an old version of OS X. In the multitude of complaints, the company has published a document explaining thecauses of the cessation of operation of FaceTime on certain devices.

Last week we gathered the news and pointed out that Apple probably wanted to "encourage" to install 7 in our iOS devices, but we are convinced that more than one user to Jailbreak has more than enough reason to not want to switch to iOS 7 This is what which Apple explains on his official website:

"If you have begun to experience problems establishing or receive calls with FaceTime after April 16, 2014 is because your device or device your friend has run into a" bug "caused by the fact that the device certificate has Expired. If you update both devices to the latest software, then the fault will be fixed. "

In short, Apple says that iOS 6 is obsolete . What happens to those devices that Apple does not allow upgrade to iOS 7? Well, the company tells us we update to iOS 6.1.6, because the problem will disappear in that version of the operating system.

If you have experienced this bug with OS X , you need to upgrade to Mavericks, but FaceTime will work on the following operating system versions for Mac:

  • OS X 10.9.2 or higher Mavericks.
  • Mountain Lion OS X 10.8 (which includes the latest security updates).
  • OS X Lion 10.7 (which includes the latest security updates).
