The local group policy editor gpedit.msc does not appear on some versions of Windows because it is not available at all. For example, in versions of Windows 10 only available in Windows 10 Pro. So if you have Windows 10 without the Pro or Windows 10 Home Single Language you will not have gpedit.msc installed and if you try to open it by running Will give an error indicating that the specified file or path is not found.

This is also true for some versions of Windows 7, Vista, 8 and 8.1, since that feature is one of the exclusions of the Windows Pro versions. However, all you can do with the local group policy editor is through the "regedit" registry editor which is available on all versions of Windows.

In my case I have a laptop that has Windows 10 and does not have gpedit.msc and I wanted to disable the Onedrive. By means of gpedit.msc it can be easily disabled, however as I did not have it I did such process using the registry editor.

On the Internet there is an immense amount of tutorials that explain how to install gpedit.msc in your version of Windows. However you run the high risk that your computer is infected by a virus. Since the process is done by downloading and installing an external file which is not known how secure it can be.
