Hi, I just installed Mint 17 with cinnamon and perfect until I began to see some videos that I have on a hard drive 1 Tera having NTFS format, the issue is that you were playing something and the video pausaba time to time , when trying to enter the video folder to see what happened I realized that the player is not failure but rather that the hard disk is accessed interrupted by intermittent way navigation even from the browser, the curious thing is that the disc works perfectly from both Windows and Elementary OS (which is the mint had before) but from Linux mint and mounted desmontar seems continually making it impossible to use.

Any idea what may be happening?

If it is an external hard disk, you that are in FAT32 format and not NTFS, like flash drives.

No, not external hard drive is an internal 1 Tera I use with windows, the strange thing is that with other distributions of linux no problem.

What I find strange is that Elementary OS will recognize what a format to NTFS, because Linux works better under the FAT32 format. While perfectly read the NTFS format, but not when writing on the disc, where the FAT32 format is better.

Either way, if it's fijate this solution: viewtopic.php f = 50 & t = 150535?

You must have installed ntfs-3g and ntfs-config package: create, rename, move or delete files of any size in NTFS partitions except compressed or encrypted NTFS files.
The coding system of the Windows partition (which is prinicipio ISO8859-15) and used by Linux (which uses UTF-8 by default) must be the same, so that the system can clearly see the names of files and directories in the Windows partition without encountering strange characters in them. To achieve this you have to put in / etc / fstab the option iocharset = utf8
To write permissions to a ntfs partition must install the packages: ntfs-config and ntfs-3g, and reboot. So that the line in the / etc / fstab file for an ntfs partition should be in this case type:
/ dev / xxxx / media / xxxx ntfs-3g rw, users 0 2
