Taking a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy S22 is actually quite easy, just like with previous models. You will have several options to choose from as to which procedure to use.

There are a few procedures that are actually quite easy, but there are also a few that require you to enable some advanced features in order to be able to capture the screen.

We'll show you what those procedures are, so keep reading as we may be able to help.

Contents

Take a screenshot using the physical buttons

The first and probably the easiest way to take a screenshot on your Galaxy S22 is to use the physical buttons. You can use it right out of the box and you don't need to configure some functions to use it.

Here's how to take a screenshot using the physical buttons:

  1. Go to the screen on which you want to take a screenshot.
  2. Quickly press the Volume Down button and the Power key.

This operation immediately captures the screen you are on. The screen flashes to indicate that the capture was successful, and the screen capture toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen.

You can touch the image in the toolbar to view your screenshot. However, if you don't interact with it, it will disappear after a few seconds.

Take screenshots using Palm's swipe gesture

The Palm Swipe gesture is also one of the most used methods to take a screenshot on Samsung Galaxy phones.

However, unlike the previous method, you need to enable the Palm Swipe in the Settings app before you can use it.

Here's how:

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Find and tap Advanced features.
  3. Scroll down a bit and tap on Motions and gestures.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, tap the button next to Palm swipe to capture to turn it on.

Remember that this feature must be enabled to work, as it is disabled by default. So if you haven't done this before, it's probably still disabled.

However, if the switch is already blue, that means it's already on, so leave it as it is.

To take a screenshot using this method, swipe the side of your hand to the left or right of the screen. The screen then flashes to indicate that the capture was successful.

Take long screenshots using the screenshot toolbar

The first two methods are already enough to capture your phone screen. However, sometimes the page you want to capture is long enough not to fit in a single screenshot.

The best example is of an article that you want to capture in one long image with no cuts. Luckily, you can do this easily by using the screenshot toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen after taking a screenshot.

Here's how:

  1. Load the page you want to capture.
  2. Use the Palm Swipe or physical buttons to take a screenshot.
  3. Once the toolbar appears, press and hold the scroll capture button represented by arrows pointing down.

Hold it down until the entire page is captured. Don't worry, the screen will automatically scroll down if you hold down the scroll capture button.

Take screenshots using Smart Select

Another method that will allow you to take a screenshot is Smart Select. For this to work, you need to enable certain features.

So follow these steps to achieve this:

  1. Launch Settings.
  2. Tap Display.
  3. Scroll down and tap Edge Panels.
  4. Tap on Panels and make sure smart selection is checked.
  5. After activating it, close the window and load the screen you want to capture.
  6. Open the edge panel by dragging it to the smart selection.
  7. Choose Rectangle.
  8. Adjust or reposition the frame and tap Done to capture the screen.
  9. Press the Save button represented by an arrow pointing down to save the photo to the Gallery.

With Smart Select you can do a lot. So try playing with it and see if you can use the other options for some things.

Smart Select is only available on your Galaxy phone as well as Edge screen or panel options.

Where can I find the screenshots?

You can easily find your screenshots if you use the Gallery app, as a new section called "Screenshots" will be automatically created after your first screenshot.

From here you can open and view your screenshots and you will have the option to edit, share or delete them.

Apart from Gallery app, you can also use Google Photos app. However, unlike Gallery, the screenshots will not be properly separated. Instead, they will be listed by date along with other photos and videos.

You can also find your screenshots using your phone's file browser, which is called "My Files".

  1. Tap the Samsung folder, then tap My Files to open it.
  2. Once inside the app, tap Images and the files will be properly separated, just like in Gallery.

Of course, there are other files that can help you view your screenshots, but these are some of the most used apps for managing your photos.

Bonus Method: The Screen Recorder

If documenting your screen is all you need, we suggest using the screen recorder. Unlike the previous methods, this one saves the images as videos and not photos.

To do this, swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to access the quick settings panel.

Find the screen recorder icon and tap it to start recording.

The video will also be saved in Gallery and you can also view it using other video players.

We hope these methods can help you take a screenshot of your screen.
