The Samsung Galaxy S6 and its Edge version are two smartphones that shone at the World Mobile Congress in 2015 and today are still one of the most chosen on the market, for their design and great performance.

This product from Samsung, although it is still being marketed, is already a couple of years old that does not pass in vain; if we use it daily and we have never formatted or hard reset it , you will surely begin to notice a deterioration in its performance (if it is no longer noticeable).

If we plan to sell our Samsung S6 or simply want it to perform at its maximum capacity to continue using it without any problem; We must follow the information, detailed below, which will help us to perform a formatting or hard reset to our device in the most effective way .

Methods

When our device starts to present performance problems, we have two options at hand to get rid of this problem that occurs every so often .

The first is a format that depends on the access we have to our Samsung S6, that is, if we cannot even interact with the main screen of the same, then we must make a jump to the second method, a hard reset, in which we resort to the buttons on the device to be able to factory restore our smartphone.

Keep in mind that these methods of restoring our device to the factory will erase all the files stored in the phone's memory and not on the removable memory card. However, it is recommended to remove both the memory card (MicroSD) and the SIM card before executing a format or a hard reset.

Hard reset (button combination)

If we lost access to our device either because we have forgotten the password / pattern or it simply does not load even the settings menu or the main screen, then we must resort to performing a hard reset.

  1. We must turn off the phone completely.
  2. Simultaneously press the " Volume up " button, the " Home " button (the big one at the bottom) and the " Power " button .
  3. The device will turn on, we will stop holding the three buttons when the Android logo appears.
  4. After waiting a moment, a menu with various options will appear known as the recovery or recovery menu .
  5. With the " Volume down " button we move to the option with the name " Wipe data / factory reset ".
  6. Once the option is shaded, we press it with the " On " button .
  7. Now, a menu will appear with a large amount of " No ", we simply use the " Volume Down " button again to select " Yes - Delete all user data " and confirm with the " Power " button once again.
  8. The hard reset process will start, we have to wait until it says " Data wipe complete ", and then the options menu will appear again.
  9. We click the " Power " button again to choose the " Reboot system now " option .

After the device has been restarted, it should have been completely restored from the factory, now we just have to configure it.

From the settings

This first option is used when we still have access to the settings menu of our smartphone, if not, we must go to the second option which is a hard reset.

  1. We unlock our Samsung S6 and we are located on the main screen.
  2. We open the application menu and then press the " Settings " button which is represented by a nut.
  3. We slide down with the finger until we find the category " Personal " and right there we look for and click on " Backup and reset ".
  4. We are going to press on the button “ Reset to defaults ”  located at the bottom.
  5. A tab will appear notifying us what will happen to our device when continuing with this function, we confirm by pressing the button " Reset device ".
  6. Then a text will appear that clarifies that all our personal information and downloaded applications will be permanently deleted, we click " Delete all ".

At this time, let's just remember that before executing these steps, we must make a backup of everything that we do not want to be erased when restoring our Samsung S6 from the factory, such as: videos, contacts, photos, among others.

We have already restored our smartphone from the factory, now we only have to publish it and sell it at a good price, or simply reinstall our favorite applications that we had to stop using since the device had stopped running them optimally.
