The Samsung Galaxy Ace smartphone is part of the Korean company's mid-range; With its 800MHz processor and 278MB of RAM, it has received good reviews since the year it was launched (2011) and today it is still in the hands of a large number of users.

If the device is slow; freezes; you are having trouble opening applications; it downloads quickly or simply has the storage space full, we have to format or do a hard reset.

If we don't know how to do it, the known methods to perform a factory reset to a Galaxy Ace are explained later.

Methods

We have two options to do a factory reset to our Samsung smart device. One, it requires the phone to be able to interact with the main screen and settings menu; The other is through the recovery menu, so it is not even necessary for the Galaxy Ace to turn on completely.

Before applying any of the two methods, we must be aware that these processes will completely delete the data and files that are stored in the internal memory of the device .

If we already know and do not want to lose anything, then we must resort to making a backup. We can do it in the cloud with Google's servers; connecting the device with a USB cable to a computer and passing all the files or transfer everything we do not want to lose to an external storage memory.

After having made sure that all our data and files are backed up, we can continue.

Hard reset (button combination)

If our device is in a state where it cannot even pass the logo when it is turned on or, due to corrupted files or viruses, we cannot interact with the interface, then a hard reset is our solution.

Before starting this procedure we must take into account that if the Galaxy Ace does not have more than 50 percent charge, we will not be able to carry out some of the steps explained later. In addition, it is recommended to remove the SIM card and the microSD , to avoid damage to the sectors of each one.

  1. We completely turn off the device. We can remove the battery and then put it back on, to be sure.
  2. Press and hold the " Home " buttons (the large one located in the middle) and the " On / Off " buttons at the same time .
  3. When the recovery menu appears on the screen we can release both buttons.
  4. Very importantly, the way in which we are going to navigate through this menu is with the " Volume up ", " Volume down " and " Home " buttons to move up, down and select respectively.
  5. We have several functions, we are going to slide down until we shade the one that says " wipe data / factory reset " and select it with " Home ".
  6. A list will appear with many options that say " No " and a single one that says " Yes - delete all user data ", we go to the latter and press it to confirm the entire process.
  7. At the bottom of the screen, we can see that several texts appear, when the message " Data wipe complete " appears last, then we will know that the process was successfully completed.
  8. Finally, we select with “ Home ” the first option that we already have shaded: “ Reboot system now “.

The device can take up to a couple of minutes to fully power on, as this is the first time it has been powered on since the hard reset was performed and is preparing the setup wizard.

We do not exaggerate, by having formatted or hard reset our Samsung Galaxy Ace device, we have lengthened the life expectancy: since, depending on the cause, for example: a virus, not only damages the software, but also the hardware , the most common case is that of the battery which, for these reasons, usually asks for a replacement.

From the settings

Performing formatting using the function provided by the operating system intuitively is the easiest and fastest. Below are the steps to follow to perform this method.

    1. We go to the " Settings " application on our phone and look for the " Privacy " section.
    2. In the tab that appears, we are going to click on " Reset factory data ".
    3. Then we have to select " Reset phone ".
    4. Now, to confirm the process and restore the device to the factory, press " Delete all ".

In this way, the formatting process would have already started on our device, the only thing we have left is to wait for it to complete and, when finished, it will restart. When the device is turned on, the Samsung wizard will appear to help us configure the language and other security options.
