The Samsung Galaxy J5 smartphone is a model considered as a mid-range and was launched on the market in 2016, it has by default a storage space ranging from 8 to 16 GB and has received great recommendations from users and the critics most involved in the technological field.

Although it is still a recommended product, a couple of years have passed since the time when it was one of the best on the market for its speed and outstanding load capacity. Now, it is normal that this device does not measure up to the memory and speed demands that new applications require along with the storage of photos, videos and other types of files that minimize the capabilities of its features.

Methods

A format, or hard reset , could be the solution to the problems that this device presents when its capabilities are exceeded . When it starts to slow down and the battery, camera, screen fails, and even when apps quit for no reason.

If this is starting to happen to us, then let's not waste time and learn how to format our Samsung J5, step by step, between two simple methods that we explain below.

Hard reset (button combination)

This option can be used especially when it is impossible for us to interact with the smartphone's operating system or when the phone is blocked for any reason and we want to do a quick format to solve it.

  1. Turn off your device completely.
  2. Press and hold the VOLUME UP + HOME / HOME + POWER BUTTON buttons for a few seconds until the Samsung logo appears on the screen.
  3. A menu with various options will appear. In the menu, scroll using the volume down key to the " SELECT WIPE DATA / FACTORY RESET " option and press the POWER button to enter the option.
  4. Scroll back to the " YES-DELETE ALL USER DATA " option with the volume up and volume down keys, respectively, then accept with the power button, also used to lock the phone.
  5. Wait for the reset or erase of the device to finish.
  6. Now, we choose the option " REBOOT SYSTEM NOW " and press it.

After we have followed these steps, our Samsung J5 will take a few seconds to format and we would only have to configure everything again.

From the settings

It is possible to format from the device menu , this is highly recommended when the failures of the device do not prevent the operating system from working normally to move around the interface. Of course, what we must do before performing any of the two methods, is to make a backup of our most valuable files, since everything will be irretrievably deleted.

  1. The first thing we are going to do is go to the applications menu and search for " Settings ".
  2. Within " Settings ", we start to scroll down to find an option called " General Administration ".
  3. At the moment the new tab opens after pressing " General Administration ", we look for the " Reset " button and press it.
  4. Once inside the menu " Reset ", press the option " Reset to factory settings ".
  5. A screen will appear in which we must indirectly confirm that we want to reset the device from the factory, simply press " Reset " at the bottom.

These would be all the steps to format the Samsung J5 device from the menu, the best option if we can choose it.

Now that we have formatted our smart device, we can enjoy its features as if we had bought it on the day of its launch, the only thing that we must take into account is that if we do not want to do a hard reset again that forces us to make a copy of security so as not to lose our valuable information and files, then we should not overload the phone with applications and files that consume all its resources.
