I have an old iPhone 4 I want to erase and start using it completely clean. Do not want to restore because it will be used by someone else.

The problem is that I do not like to install iOS 8, as the phone is quite old and not working too fast with iOS 7.

Is it possible to do a clean install without installing the latest version of iOS?

I have a couple of days looking for information, but all you encounter aims to restore from a backup.

You can restart it and leave it "as factory", but I think they can not prevent install the latest version of iOS for your phone. If it is 4 the latest version of iOS 7 if yes 4S iOS supports 8.

There is an option in the phone itself, in settings, allowing you to restart. I did a couple of weeks ago to happen to my wife and iPhone4.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the iPhone 4 is not updated to iOS 8. The last eligible version for this model is the 7. Look at the Apple website to see what he says.

Iphone 4G, as I have already said, you can only upgrade to iOS 7.1.2

If you want to leave it with the version you currently have in Settings-General-Reset, select delete Content and Settings option

As this issue has already been discussed in this other thread, close and continuing doubts it continues

greetings :)
