"Black Screen" after updating software

Hello friends, I always helped here so I ask again ....
Ressulta I installed updates from the system updates ubuntu 13.10, asks me to restart the utilzo a bit more smoothly and restart ...

Upon restart, I see the loading screen shown ubuntu goes black and then doing nothing ...

OBVIOUSLY I went through google and saw probably a mistake with the drivers, and possibly the video card. Some tests I tried and did not work:

From the GRUB I edit the boot option and replace "quiet splash" with "nomodeset" (also saw that a "quiet splash" they added instead of replacing the "nomodeset" command) I give Ctrl + x reboot and NADA.
Since GRUB options I go to the advanced options and from there from the terminal do: "sudo startx"

Well, that is the situation so far.
hope your answers.
thanks in advance.

1. close Ubuntu
2. In the window Ubuntu Parallels Virtual Machine> Configure> turn off 3D acceleration
3. Start Ubuntu and log in (the graphics May be a bit sluggish)
4. Do the update software using Software updater
5. Restart Ubuntu after the update

Now it Should be working (no black screens) but sluggish With graphics

6. Shutdown Ubuntu
7. In the window Ubuntu In the Parallels Virtual Machine> Configure> turn ON ** ** 3D acceleration.
8 Restart Ubuntu and log in.
