Step 1:
Find the current IP address of your computer PS4. To do this, follow these steps:
From the main menu, select Settings.
At the bottom of the list, select Network.
Select View Connection Status.
You should see the IP address displayed.
Write down the IP address, MAC address and the IP address of the router that should appear under the name Default Gateway.
Step 2:
Now you must log into your router through your computer (click here to learn how) and assigned to your PS4 permanently IP address noted above.
The following is an example of a router that allows you to manually assign IP addresses:
In this router Asus, find a box to enter the IP address and then a menu with options for the MAC address. Find the numbers listed in step 1 of this guide and enter the values in the corresponding boxes. In this example, after writing the addresses you need to click on the "Add" button.
Some routers do not allow you to assign an IP address outside the DHCP range of the same. If this is your case, you need to check the second part of this guide "Section B: Configuring a Static IP Address on your PS4" and follow steps 2 through 4 to set an IP address outside the DHCP range.
Step 3:
Once you have set an IP address for your PS4, you must run the Internet Connection Test on your console to make sure everything works properly. To do this:
-
Select Settings from the main menu.
-
Select Network.
-
Select Internet Connection Test. Wait until the process completes.
-
If everything is in order, you should read on screen "Internet Connection Successful".
Step 4:
Redirect ports (or open ports) on your router takes all incoming traffic from certain ports to a specific internal IP address. To get a NAT type 2 connection, you have to redirect the following ports to the IP address of your PS4.
TCP: 80, 443, 1935, 3478-3480
UDP: 3478-3479
If you are not clear how, you can visit the following guide.
Step 5:
After establishing a permanent IP address for your PS4 and have successfully redirected the ports on your router, you can test your Internet connection again as described in step 3 Your connection should now have a NAT Type 2.
If the NAT Type 2 is not listed in your connection, then you should check the steps again for errors. If you're still having problems to establish a NAT Type 2 on your PS4 may have more than one router in your network. You can try this detector Routers Portforward.com free.
