Here you have a guide on the different ways to shutdown, restart or reset your iPad , iPhone or iPod Touch in case of problems :

Turning the iPad :
to turn off the iPad , you have to hold down the top button until the shutdown screen appears, confirm it by sliding the button.

How to close an application that is not responding iPad :
to force quit an application , you must hold down the center button for 6 seconds at least .

How to Reset the iPad :
to restart , simply perform the shutdown , and then turn it on again, holding down the top button until the Apple apple display .

How to reset the iPad :
to force a reboot , keep pressed the center button and the top button for 10 seconds , ignoring the screen off until Apple apple display .

How to reset preferences iPad :
to reset the preferences , go to Settings> General > Reset> Reset Settings. Not to be erased.

Clearing the iPad completely :
if we want to delete all data and settings , the option is Settings> General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings .

MODE RESTORATION

If you want to leave the iPad as receivedst factory , or installing another firmware ( when you have below)
Connect with Dock Connector to USB to your computer, open iTunes and if you detect it, look for the button Restore :

Send to Restore and you restore the most recent version of the firmware (iTunes is the lower )

Press the "shift " key (Shift ) Keyboard ( Windows) or the "alt " key (on Mac) and press and hold the Reset button , thus giving you choose a firmware file

RECOVERY MODE

To put the iPad in recovery mode and then restore from iTunes, you connect the cable Dock connector to USB and open iTunes.

Once detected it completely turned off .

Simultaneously pressed the top button and the center button until the apple appears on the screen of the iPad .

At that moment we press the top button, as we continue pressing the center button until iTunes detects the iPad for recovery.

The iPad screen will be displayed indicating to connect to iTunes.

If used in a restore and recovery mode does not work, you have to use DFU Mode as a last resort .

DFU MODE

As in the recovery mode , connect the Dock Connector to USB and open iTunes. Once detected it completely turned off .

We pressed simultaneously for 10 seconds the center button and the top button .

When you reach 10 seconds lifted the finger top button while pressing the center button until iTunes detects the iPad for restore. At all times, the display will remain off .

COMMENTS
In both cases to restore iPad after we press the "alt " (Mac) or " uppercase -Shift " (Windows ) while you click Restore in iTunes button.

NOTE :
This procedure may take several attempts to get your iPad into DFU mode. In general , keep both buttons pressed while turning the iPad but make sure it is connected and turned on iTunes, then release the top button, just before the Apple logo appears on your iPad .

( THIS SAME HELP IS VALID IN THE CASE OF IPHONES IPODS - )

I hope this information will be useful because, unfortunately , and that's my experience ( with iPhones and iPods, and now once with the iPad) , ever going to need ...
